Monitoring the IA

A couple of days ago, our main ticketing system IA lost connectivity with xMatters and (for some reason - a separate question/investigation) didn't recover. A Health Monitor email/alert was generated, but not acted on. I get spammed by latency messages from the Health Monitor so I've filtered them out - being able to apply finer granularity would be useful there.

What other options are there for monitoring the state of the Integration Agent (and Services)?

  • I had a look through the SOAP API for the server hoping to see a request for IA status (equivalent to the details in the Web UI on (Event Domains > Event Domain Details > Integration Service Details) but there doesn't seem to be one.
  • The AdminGateway SOAP API on the IA itself looks promising, but can only be accessed from localhost, which isn't very useful. The IAConfig.xml allows you to configure the host, but says must be "localhost" - and iadmin.sh doesn't work if you change it (Attribute 'host' has a fixed value of 'localhost' - quelle surprise).
  • There are also settings for <emergency-contact>, and I've provoked it into sending me some failure emails, but that's not an ideal integration (sic) point.

Any other likely avenues?
